Kokkolai, Kokkuthoduvai Massacre – 15.12.1984

Kokklai – Kokkuthoduvai Karunatukkeni and others are native villages of Tamil people. These areas are one of the famous areas for fishing. These people also lived with good wealth.

On 15.12.1984, army soldiers entered the villages of Koklai, Kokkuthoduvai, Karunatukkeni, Nayar, Kuzumuna, Alampil in Mullaitivu district and destroyed the property and massacred the people.

In this incident, two thousand Tamil families left the villages of Karunathukeni, Kokklai and Kokkuthuduai and migrated with only what they had in hand. One hundred and thirty one people including thirty one women and twenty one children died in this incident.
